October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month!
October isn’t just about scary costumes and freaky decorations—it’s cybersecurity awareness month. This month’s theme is Stay “Safe Online.”
When businesses go through complex changes it leaves them vulnerable, even momentarily, to cyber-attacks. Whether you are a large or small business you are not immune to attacks. In a 2023 survey of 500 U.S. small businesses, almost half of those surveyed (41%) reported being the target of a cyberattack. Over $16,000 dollars were paid out in ransomware attacks and only 50% of those who paid recovered all their stolen data.
It’s not just small businesses and their data that can become the target of a cyberattack. In just one analysis made in April 2024, researchers found that at least 19 billion passwords were compromised and made available on the dark web. In this age of cyber wild west, it is more important than ever to lean on Human-AI collaboration to ensure you are protecting your data this October and beyond.
Cybersecurity doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. It’s about building small, smart habits that make you less of a target. Building safe protocols and solid employee training can make a big difference. Cate Urban Communications has worked with government contractors for over fours years. As part of our commitment to upholding government standards, our owner undergoes a yearly cybersecurity training that covers:
How to identify and report phishing and other cybercrimes;
Safe ways to share sensitive information online;
The dangers of using public Wi-Fi; and
Best practices for protecting laptops, phones and other devices.
When you work with us, you can be confident we are protecting your data.
