AI Fundamental Course

Some fun news:

  1. My given first name is Erin.

  2. I've completed the HHS 2026 AI Fundamental Course!

This course is designed to establish a clear, shared baseline for how AI is used at HHS, with a specific focus on understanding and applying guidance for approved enterprise AI tools. It serves as the first step in building a more consistent, Department-wide approach to AI enablement grounded in proper tool use, data handling, and compliance expectations. Through this training, users:

  • Learn how to start using AI tools to support and enhance your work;

  • Understand which enterprise AI tools are available and approved for use;

  • Gain practical guidance on using AI effectively while protecting sensitive information; and

  • Build confidence in reviewing outputs and applying sound judgment.

Cate Urban Communications’ to Protecting Data

The course is a new requirement for all HHS contractors, including NLM contractors, like me. Each year, I am also required to take a cybersecurity course and data protection course. Additionally, my team and I are currently participating in TryHackMe training to better understand cybersecurity issues. We are committed to protecting our clients’ data and strengthening guardrails around that data.
